DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://smartdata2015.dataversity.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=91&proposalid=7644\nIt seems like not a day goes by that we aren’t bombarded with yet another dark, dystopian warning about the dangers of AI. From protesters at SXSW to Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak and even Neil de Grasse Tyson, it seems everybody is afraid of the Bad Big AI of ‘super intelligence’.\nAny new technology has downsides as well as benefits, and AI is no exception. Because of the magnitude of the potential impact of AI, it’s reasonable to try to assess and mitigate the downside risks. I’ll leave that to the ethicists, socio-cultural anthropologists and AI researchers to sort out. I’m confident that they can. So until some super intelligent AI tells me to stop, I’m vowing to steer clear of the doom and gloom scenarios and focus instead on the many valuable benefits to businesses and consumers that AI is already providing or may provide in the not-too-distant future. \nMarkets covered will include:\nCustomer care\nHealthcare\nRetail\nEdutech\nTravel and entertainment \nApplication areas covered will include:\nContent discovery and recommendation\nInterconnectedness with IoT and contextual computing\nIntelligent virtual assistants and other forms of software agents
